Veteran Nollywood actor Richard Mofe Damijo popularly known as RMD has shared his thoughts on the importance of daughters in families.

RMD question the traditional African preferences for male children, claiming that having a daughter surpasses the value of having three sons.

n

Speaking from personal experience, the renowned thespian recounted how his sisters selflessly cared for their ailing father, while their brothers didn’t similarly sacrifice.

RMD stressed that men who lament having only daughters fail to recognize their blessings.

n

He argued that daughters bring numerous benefits, including potential longevity, reduced worry, and increased compliance.

In his words:

“When my father was ill, my sister left her job to stay with him. My other sister left her business to work shifts with her, None of us boys left our business or work.

n

“Yet you foolishly complain that you have only girls? you have hit a jackpot.

n

“Each of your daughters is worth 3 sons! Having a daughter prolongs your life. She will not get into as much trouble as your sons.

n

“She is less likely to be disobedient. When she leaves your house, she will remember you. If you are too old to leave alone, she will move you into her home, matrimonial or not. Go and thank God for having daughters!”

Controversial Nollywood actor and producer, Yul Edochie has addressed his critics.

The actor turned cleric shared a video of himself in his traditional clothing while lamenting how some trolls always drag him.

According to him, their beef all comes from being jealousy, as most of them are hating on him because of his ‘steeze’.

Yul Edochie added that his second wife, Judy Austin has opined that his light is blinding his haters.

A man named Mr. Onyiuke Nwedeogu from Ndiechi Igbeagu in Ebonyi State tragically set himself and his family home on fire following a disagreement with his wife.

n

The incident happened early Sunday morning after a minor argument with his wife, Mrs. Felicia Nwedeogu.

n

During the altercation, Onyiuke reportedly beat his wife, gathered his clothes, and placed them in their shop before leaving to speak with his parents about the situation.

n

Unhappy with his parents’ response, he returned to his home later that night with a gallon of motor spirit (fuel).

n

He removed the window protector where his wife and their three daughters were sleeping, poured the fuel, and set the building ablaze.

n

Fortunately, neighbors managed to rescue his wife and children through the same window as the fire consumed the house.

n

After setting the fire, Onyiuke drove away but was later taken by a man named Elijah to Alex Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital, where he died from severe burns on Wednesday.

His body has been deposited in the hospital’s morgue. Meanwhile, Ebonyi State Police confirmed they have not yet received a formal report on the incident.

The General Muhammadu Buhari International Airport, Maiduguri, is set to commence full international operations by January 1, 2025.

This comes as the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, led other delegates on a one-day work visit to the facility in Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria.

Airport facilities are being upgraded to enhance connectivity for the North East Zone and strengthen Maiduguri’s role in international air travel and cargo transportation.

During the meeting, Governor Zulum lauded Keyamo’s performance in the country’s aviation since his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The Governor reaffirmed the Borno State Government’s commitment to collaborating fully with the Federal Government to ensure the successful launch of operations on January 1, 2025.

On his part, Keyamo emphasised the importance of the project as a symbol of growth and resilience for the region, noting that the General Muhammadu Buhari International Airport is poised to be the first fully operational international airport in the North East Zone.

The Jigawa State Police Command has confirmed that three people died in a serious road accident in Gwaram Local Government Area.

n

Police spokesman Lawan Shiisu reported that a bus carrying 17 passengers collided with an empty truck, resulting in three fatalities and injuries to 14 others.

n

The accident occurred at Kwanar Mangwarori along the old Gwaram road when the bus, registered KTG 196 XC, crashed into an empty Dangote trailer, registered BNK 447 XA, which was driven by Musbahu Yakubu, who fled the scene.

Police arrived at the scene and transported the victims to Gwaram Cottage Hospital. The deceased have been identified as Idris Nuhu, Khadija Kabiru, and Shamsuddeen Ibrahim.

Ahead of the court hearing of a defamation lawsuit filed against him, popular social media critic, VeryDarkMan, a.k.a. VDM, has denied defaming human rights lawyer Femi Falana and his son, singer Falz.

In September, VDM shared a leaked audio in which crossdresser Bobrisky implicated Falz and his father.

n

In the controversial leaked audio, Bobrisky alleged that Falz and his father contacted him while he was imprisoned at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre to facilitate a “presidential pardon” for N10 million.

n

Falana and Falz, however, denied the claim and demanded that VeryDarkMan issue an apology and retract his statement, which they described as “defamatory,” within 24 hours.

n

Following his failure to retract the statement and apologize, the Lagos State High Court ordered VDM to delete the alleged defamatory post ahead of the substantive suit’s hearing at Ikeja High Court in Lagos on Thursday, November 14, 2024.

n

Meanwhile, in a new video posted on his Instagram page, VDM, who noted that he will not apologize, reiterated that the video he posted was to expose corruption in Nigeria and urged the Falanas to clear their names.

He said:

n

“I just arrived in Lagos for the Femi Falana case against me at the Ikeja High Court by 9:00 AM. I came to Lagos ahead of that. As you all know, they (Falana and Falz) said I defamed them, but for me, it’s corruption that I exposed. I see things that don’t make sense, like someone going to prison and not serving jail term or the EFCC, which is expected to catch people involved in corruption, collecting money.

“That’s what I exposed. But sadly, some people, Falana and Falz, whose names were mentioned, said I should have informed them before posting such things about them. They asked me to apologize. I don’t see anything wrong with what I did, so I’m not apologizing to anybody. They should clear their name.

n

“I have tried to respect them, but it didn’t work because I went to prostrate for Falana, yet they insisted that I must go and apologize. Now it is time for the court hearing, and heaven won’t fall. Tomorrow, if I hear their names again, I will post it. I don’t fear anybody’s father. I don’t want a country where, when it is someone’s time, we should keep quiet.”
